UNF is an Instagram follower tracker for iPhone. It records what Instagram publishes about a profile roughly once a day, and builds connection lists — mutuals, accounts that do not follow you back, who unfollowed you between two moments — from the Instagram data export you download yourself. It never asks for your Instagram password. These answers say how each part works, and are equally direct about the things no app can do.

UNF is an Instagram follower tracker and profile analytics app for iPhone. It records what Instagram publishes about a profile roughly once a day and builds a dated report from those checks. It also reads the Instagram data export you download yourself, which is what makes connection lists — mutuals, people who do not follow you back, new followers — possible. UNF never asks for your Instagram password.
It uses two sources, neither of which needs a login. The first is what Instagram already publishes about a username: display name, profile photo, biography, follower, following and post counts, and whether the account is public or private. The second is the data export Instagram gives you about your own account, which you download from Instagram and hand to UNF. UNF never signs in to Instagram as you and cannot act on your account.
A daily follower count with the time it was read. Following count, post count and the net change since the previous check, with Pro. Connection sections built from your export: mutuals, accounts you follow that do not follow you back, new followers and accounts no longer in your followers, once two exports exist to compare. Daily change history for public profiles you choose to track. And Profile Check, which gives grounded feedback on your own biography and the posts you select.
Who viewed your profile, who viewed your story, who unfollowed you from a single snapshot, anything from a private account you do not own, and anything in real time. None of these can be produced from public information or a standard data export. UNF leaves those sections empty and says why rather than filling them with a guess.
No. UNF is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. Instagram is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.
Unfollowers — the question most people arrive with. The app answers it the only honest way, by comparing two sets of your own Instagram data rather than claiming to watch your account.
Who left, who never followed back, and what can honestly be known.
Request a download of your information from Instagram and add the file to UNF. That records who followed you at that moment. Later, request a second download and add that one too. UNF compares the two and lists the accounts present in the first and absent from the second. That comparison is the only method that names an actual account, and it works without giving any app your Instagram login.
No, and no app can. Instagram does not send a notification or publish an event when someone unfollows you. What is possible is comparing two lists taken at different times, which tells you that somebody left between those two moments — not when, and not why. UNF reports it that way.
Usually by asking for your Instagram username and password, signing in as you, and pulling your follower list on a schedule. That gives them a comparison basis, and it also gives them your credentials and a login on your account. UNF gets the same comparison from an export you download yourself, which is slower and needs a deliberate action from you — and asks for nothing that could compromise your account.
Not from the count. A number going down establishes that the total changed, and nothing about identity. Naming the account requires two lists of followers taken at different times. If you have added only one export, or none, UNF will say the section is not ready rather than guessing.
Accounts you follow that do not follow you back. UNF works them out by comparing your following list against your followers list, both taken from your own Instagram data export. This one needs only a single export, so it works as soon as you add your first file.
Accounts that appear in both your followers list and your following list — the people you follow who also follow you. Like non-followers, this comes from a single export.
No. Deciding that a follower is inactive requires knowing how they behave — whether they open, like or comment — and a standard Instagram data export contains none of that. UNF will not label an account a ghost follower on the strength of data it cannot read.
No. Instagram publishes counts, not lists. Any app showing you a list of accounts either got it from your own export or signed in as you to fetch it. UNF takes the first route.
Every time you add a newer export. Instagram controls how quickly it will prepare a download, and there is no benefit to requesting one more often than you actually want a comparison.

Your follower count, following count and post count, each recorded with the exact moment it was read, plus the net change between one check and the next and the history those checks build up over time. The follower count is free. The rest is included with Pro.
No. UNF reports what Instagram publishes about a profile, which is counts and public posts — not per-post likes and comments for arbitrary accounts, and not an engagement rate derived from them. Rather than compute a number out of data it cannot read, UNF does not offer the metric at all.
Yes, if they are public. Add a profile to Track and UNF notes what changed between daily checks: biography, profile photo, follower, following and post counts, and new public posts, with a before-and-after for each change. One preview is free and Pro covers up to 10 profiles.
No. Public profiles are checked about once a day, in an afternoon window in your own time zone, and the result is a single digest rather than a stream. UNF says when something was checked, never that it just happened.
Only the parts of it that are public — typically the display name, profile photo and, where Instagram shows them, the counts. Private posts and private follower lists stay unavailable, and UNF neither reads them nor pretends to.
Yes. Every check is stored with its timestamp, so the report can show change over time rather than only today. History starts the day you start, because a check that never happened cannot be recovered afterwards.
UNF reads public information the same way any visitor to a public profile does, and does not interact with the account: it does not follow, view stories, like or message. Instagram does not notify anyone that a public profile was read.
Yes. Your own profile drives the Today report and connection sections. Track is for other public profiles and is separate from it.
Yes. Settings has an option to add another profile, and each gets its own report and its own imported data.
The file that makes connection lists possible, and how to get it.
In Instagram, open your profile, go to the settings menu and find the account centre, then "Your information and permissions", then "Download your information". Request a download of your own account, choose JSON as the format, and Instagram will email you a link when the file is ready. Add that file in UNF.
JSON. UNF reads the follower and following lists out of a JSON export. An HTML export is built for reading in a browser, not for machines, and is not what UNF expects.
Instagram decides that, not UNF. It is often ready within a few hours and can take longer. Instagram emails you when the link is available, and the link expires after a few days.
The follower and following lists. Those are what mutuals, non-followers and follower comparisons are built from. UNF does not need — and does not use — your messages, photos, story archive or search history to produce a report.
No. An export is a snapshot of one moment. It never updates itself, and no subscription, timer or AI feature turns it into a live feed. Adding a newer export is what refreshes the comparison.
Mutuals and non-followers describe a single moment, so one file answers them. New followers and accounts no longer in your followers describe a change between two moments, so they need two files taken at different times. Until the second one exists, UNF marks those sections as not ready.
No. Only your own. The terms of use require it, and an export belonging to another person is their data, not yours to upload.
What is collected, what is not, and what UNF can never do to your account.
UNF never asks for your Instagram password, has no Instagram login screen, and cannot sign in as you. That removes the single largest risk in this category of app. What it does collect — a generated account identifier, the username you select, dated public values, and any export you choose to add — is listed in full in the privacy policy.
No. UNF has no write access to your Instagram account of any kind. It cannot post, comment, follow, unfollow, message, view a story, or change a privacy setting.
UNF does not log in to your account or automate any action on it, which is the behaviour that puts accounts at risk. Only Instagram can speak to its own enforcement, so UNF will not promise you an outcome it does not control — but there is no credential and no automation for it to act on.
Only if you turn it on. Crash reporting and screen-level usage events are off by default and stay off until you enable "Share anonymous usage data" in Settings. They never include your username, biography, follower identities or the contents of your export.
No. Your data is not sold and is not shared with advertisers or data brokers. The service providers listed in the privacy policy each receive only what their job requires.
It is stored so your connection sections keep working across launches, and adding a newer file replaces the basis for comparison. Deleting your account removes it along with everything else.
Open Settings in the app and choose to delete your account. It removes your profile selections, dated observations, imported files, generated reports and stored identifiers. It cannot be undone, and it does not cancel an Apple subscription — cancel that separately in the App Store.
Not one you create. An identifier is generated on first launch so your reports belong to you across launches. You can optionally use Sign in with Apple, which keeps the same reports if you change device.
What is free, what Pro adds, and how Apple handles the money.
There is a free tier and it is genuinely useful: a daily public-profile check, your follower count, one tracked-profile preview and the Fancy Text tools. UNF Pro costs $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year and adds the rest.
The full daily report and its history — following, posts and net change. The connection sections built from your export. Daily checks with before-and-after history for up to 10 tracked profiles. And five Profile Checks a month.
No trial at the moment. The free tier is the way to see whether the report is worth paying for, and it does not expire.
In the App Store: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription, and UNF cannot cancel it for you.
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under their terms, through reportaproblem.apple.com. UNF cannot issue one.
Your subscription is tied to the Apple ID that bought it, so it restores on any device signed in to that Apple ID. Choose "Restore purchases" on the plans screen. It is not currently set up for Family Sharing.
No, and this matters more than it sounds. A subscription grants access to features. It never creates data that Instagram does not publish and that you have not provided. If a section is empty because there is no source for it, Pro leaves it empty too.
What UNF runs on, and where to get help.

Not today. UNF is an iPhone app, and there is no Android release to promise a date for.
Reports and public checks need a network connection. Fancy Text works entirely offline, with no account and no request leaving your phone.
A Pro feature that reads your own biography and the posts you select and gives grounded feedback on what reads clearly and what to change. It works on content you choose to submit, and it does not invent engagement figures or predict how a post will perform.
